Android Market is now Google Play

Logo for Google Play (formally the Android Market)

While there is no doubt that Research in Motion’s Blackberry line of mobile devices are the most popular smart phones in Barbados (can anyone say Blackberry Messenger?) there are individuals on the island who have Android based devices (phones or tablets) or Apple OS devices such as the iPhone or iPad.

Of interesting note to Android users, earlier this week Google phased out the original Android Market and has replaced it with what is now called “Google Play”. The change is mainly one associated with re-branding as all of the apps previously available on the Android Market are still available and any app on your device is still functional.  If your phone or tablet still has the Android Market logo there is no need to worry as Google will be sending out an update which would be received via Wi-Fi/3G or 4G.

For more information and to check out the latest apps, movies and music you can visit Google Play on your phone or tablet or log onto the website at: https://play.google.com/store
